General Mike Murray

Board Member

Mike Murray hails from Kenton, Ohio and is a career Army Infantry Officer. He was the first Commander of the newly established Army Futures Command and was previously the Chief Financial Officer (G8) for the United States Army. Mike is a proud graduate of the Ohio State University and he and his wife Jane have three lovely daughters and eight grandchildren.

George P. Bush

George Prescott Bush is a native Texan, born in Houston on April 24, 1976. He was first elected Texas Land Commissioner in 2014 and re-elected in 2018. George has dedicated his life to public service — working as a public-school teacher after graduating from Rice University, serving in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan as an officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve, and now as the 28th Land Commissioner of the Texas General Land Office. Prior to running for office, George P. was also a successful businessman. He co-founded Pennybacker Capital LLC, a real estate private equity firm, in 2007, and St. Augustine Partners LLC, a Fort Worth-based investment firm focused on oil and gas transactions and consulting for private businesses.

Lawton Cummings

Board Member

Lawton Cummings is a futurist turned venture capitalist focused on investing in the most promising technology startups in Texas. As General Partner at Capital Factory she co-manages the Capital Factory Venture Funds, which invests in technology startups employing AI/ML, computer vision, robotics, and other exponential technologies. The Capital Factory is known as the “center of gravity for tech entrepreneurs in Texas” and has been the most active early stage investor in Texas since 2010. Prior to entering venture, Lawton practiced law in Manhattan and Austin, taught Commercial Law and Responsible Artificial Intelligence as a tenure track law professor, and served as the CEO of Austin100, an organization that brings together Austin's business and community leaders to discuss and address the city’s most pressing issues of today and tomorrow. A life-long and passionate advocate for the advancement of women, civil rights, and balanced discourse, Lawton has founded and served on the boards of several organizations that promote these values. Lawton is proud to be a breast cancer survivor, married to her husband of 28+ years, the mother of two kind and engaged teenaged humans, and perhaps have the singular distinction of having served simultaneously on an ACLU Board of Directors and as a legal analyst for the Fox News Network.

Lynn Meredith

Board Member

Lynn Meredith was born in Brooklyn, raised in Queens and has lived on all 3 coasts. Since arriving in Austin in the early 90’s with her husband and four children, her focus has been on building non-profit organizations that meet the vital needs of the community. A strong advocate for opportunities and equity for families, women, and the underserved, Lynn has pursued many collaborative initiatives within the greater Austin area. As a Board member of ECHO (Ending Community Homelessness Coalition) she is looking forward to serving on the Veteran Community Service Project.

Merritt Alberti

Board Member

Merritt Alberti is a Managing Director at Deloitte Consulting, LLP with 25+ years of strategic and operating experience, largely in professional services for technology, telco and media clients. He leads the Austin office for Deloitte Consulting and is active with a number of non-profits including the Boy Scouts of America, Association of the US Army, and Black Fret. Merritt is a US Army veteran having served in Operation Desert Storm with the 2nd Armored Division. Merritt graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point and has graduate degrees from Texas A&M Central Texas and the University of Texas at Austin. Merritt lives in Austin with his wife of 20 years and their 3 teenagers.

Ross Guieb

Board Member

Ross Guieb was born and raised in San Francisco, California. Ross is a 30 year career officer and Soldier for Life. Ross was part of the largest reorganization of the Army since 1973 with the creation and stand-up of Army Futures Command. Ross recently transitioned from the Army to be the first Executive Director of the George H.W. Bush Combat Development Complex, Texas A&M. Ross is married to his high school sweetheart Kathy and they have three sons.
